When we first saw the trophy cases at Guy B. Phillips Middle School, it was clear they needed help. The original glass shelves had shattered over time, and the few that remained were bending under the weight of the awards. This created a real safety concern and risked damaging the school’s proud history. As a team from Triangle Repairs LLC, we knew we had to step in and restore these cabinets to a safe and lasting condition.

Our volunteer project was more than just fixing shelves. It was about preserving memories and honoring the achievements of the Falcons. I want to share how we approached this project, why it mattered to us, and what we learned along the way.

Why We Chose This Project

Our connection to Guy B. Phillips Middle School runs deep. Our daughters spent some of their best years there, and the school community welcomed our family with open arms. We wanted to give back in a way that would last and make a real difference.

The trophy cases are more than just cabinets; they are a showcase of the school’s spirit and history. Seeing them in disrepair felt like a loss to the community. Only two shelves remained, and they were struggling to support the weight of the trophies; the rest had long since shattered. We decided to replace the fragile glass shelves with sturdy, custom-built wooden shelves that could safely hold the weight of the awards for years to come.

The Restoration Process

As carpenters, the team at Triangle Repairs LLC knew the importance of quality craftsmanship. We started by carefully removing the broken glass shelves, making sure not to damage the original cabinet frames. The next step was designing shelves that would fit perfectly and provide strong support.

We chose heavy-duty wood for the shelves because it offers durability and a classic look that complements the vintage cabinets. Each shelf was custom cut and finished to match the existing woodwork. Installing the shelves required precision to ensure they were level and secure.

Throughout the process, we kept the school’s needs in mind. The new shelves had to be safe for students and staff, easy to maintain, and able to display trophies of all sizes.

What This Project Means to Our Community

Restoring the trophy cases was a way to honor the past and support the future. The Falcons’ achievements deserve to be displayed proudly and safely. By volunteering our time and skills, we helped preserve a piece of the school’s identity.

This project also strengthened our bond with the community. It reminded us how important it is to invest in local schools and spaces where children grow and learn. The gratitude from the school staff and families made the effort even more rewarding.

Continuing to Support Our Schools

At Triangle Repairs LLC, we believe in giving back to the places that shape our lives. Restoring the trophy cases at Guy B. Phillips Middle School was a chance to do just that. It feels good to know that the Falcons’ history now has a safe and beautiful home.

We encourage other local businesses and community members to find ways to support our schools. Whether it’s through volunteer work, donations, or sharing skills, every effort counts.
